Parents worry about what their children are seeing online, poll shows

Online safety is the primary concern parents have as their children return to school, a new poll shows.

A survey of 800 parents with kids aged 8-16 found that 65 per cent placed this concern highest.

Nine in ten (91 per cent) expressed anxiety about what their child is seeing on their smartphone.

Online harms causing concern include social media trolling, inappropriate content, and online predators.

Close to 4 in 10 parents (36 per cent) said they don't know where to seek help regarding online safety.
