Director of Advocacy and Policy

- Based at: CARE’s Head Office – 53 Romney Street, London, SW1P 3RF

- Salary: £50-55,000

- Hours: full-time (part time will be considered)

Do you long to see biblical principles informing and shaping public policy solutions to some of the deepest challenges our nation is facing? Do you have experience of engaging with parliament?

We are looking for a new Director of Advocacy to join our team at CARE. For more than four decades, CARE has used its policy expertise to impact laws and legislation. From involvement with modern slavery laws, to helping secure age verification online to protect children from adult content, by God’s grace, CARE’s made a genuine and lasting difference.

Our vision is to see politics renewed and lives transformed and we do this by telling God’s better story to a broken world. There are three core activities at CARE:

  1. Equipping politicians through a relational approach where we provide well researched briefings and advice.
  2. Engaging the church by producing relevant resources on a wide range of topics to serve church leaders and congregations.
  3. Empowering future leaders through our highly regarded Leadership Programme.

As Director of Advocacy, you will also sit on CARE’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT), alongside the CEO, Director of Communications and Engagement, Director of Development and Director of the Institute for Faith and Culture (IFC). You will also join CARE’s Campaign Steering Group (CSG) and help coordinate and oversee all of CARE’s campaign work.

You will lead our Policy Team and our advocacy in the parliament’s and assemblies of the United Kingdom. As Director, you will be expected to lead the development of biblical and evidence-based public policy positions, informed by high quality research, that will be at the heart of CARE’s advocacy campaigns. You will forge and sustain strategic partnerships and new collaborations in the public policy and affairs sphere. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will oversee the team’s budget and ensure it meets its objectives and annual business plans.
