Walk with me

Be equipped to offer post-abortion support to those in need

Abortion affects more people than we think - and many are silently carrying pain, grief, or regret.

This evening session is for anyone with a heart to support others - friends, family, small group leaders, mentors, or those who’ve walked the journey themselves. We’ll create a compassionate space to learn how to respond when someone opens up about abortion and how to walk with them toward hope and healing.

Next Date: Tuesday 16th June

Time: 7:00pm – 9:00pm

Location: Online (Zoom)

Delegates will explore:

  • What post-abortion grief can look like, and how it may show up.
  • The kind of language and posture that helps people feel safe and seen.
  • Practical next steps: listening well, knowing when to signpost, and offering ongoing support.
  • How the Church can become a place of healing and welcome.

This is an event organised by Open, an initiative of CARE. For more information please visit weareopen.org.uk or care.org.uk

"Heartfelt thanks to Leonie and Rebecca, and to everyone involved in running the training today. It was first class. Every blessing on the vital ministries of CARE and OPEN." - Church Leader

Who is this event for?

This session is open to anyone with a heart to support others - whether you’re a small group leader, mentor, friend, family member, or someone who has personal experience of abortion and wants to help others on their journey.

Is there a cost to attend?

The cost to attend is £5 per person. However, if this would be a challenge, please get in touch via events@care.org.uk. We don’t want cost to be a barrier for anyone who wishes to join and will simply book you in free of charge.

Do I need any previous experience or training to attend?

No previous training is required. The session is designed to be accessible, offering both practical tools and pastoral insight for anyone seeking to respond with compassion and understanding.

Is this event suitable for men as well as women?

Absolutely. Abortion affects both women and men, and it’s important that both voices are part of learning and support in this area. Everyone is welcome - whether you’ve been personally affected or want to better understand how to walk alongside others with compassion and care.

Will there be opportunities to ask questions or share reflections?

Yes. The event includes time for discussion and Q&A. We encourage participants to keep their cameras on and engage with others to make the session as meaningful as possible.

Will the session be recorded, and what are the expectations for participants on Zoom?

To protect privacy and encourage open conversation, the session will not be recorded. We want to ensure a safe and confidential space for all participants. We encourage you to keep your camera on to help create a more engaging and connected experience for everyone.

How can I prepare before attending?

There’s nothing you need to do beforehand. We simply encourage you to join from a quiet, comfortable space where you can take part without distractions. This session is designed to be a safe and respectful environment where experiences and views can be shared without fear of judgement. If you’re able, please keep your camera on – it helps create a sense of warmth and connection for everyone.

Who is hosting the event?

This event is organised by Open, an initiative of CARE, which exists to help the Church respond with compassion, grace, and truth to those impacted by abortion. You can find out more about Open and CARE by using the links below. https://www.openministries.org... https://care.org.uk/

"Really appreciated the love but truth tone, bible-based equipping and approach of the training. Rebecca & Leonie, you are clearly both brilliantly equipped and positioned for such a time as this for this hugely needed ministry." - Attendee
