Picking up the pieces

Equipping Church Leaders and Pastoral Workers to Respond Pastorally to Abortion

An online pastoral event for church leaders who wish to be better equipped to support those who have experienced baby loss through abortion.

Upcoming dates:

Wednesday 17 June 10:30 - 12;30

Location: Online (Zoom)

How can church leaders and their teams offer grace-filled, informed, and compassionate responses to abortion in today’s complex culture?

In this pastoral training session, we’ll explore how to walk alongside individuals and families impacted by abortion - with both theological depth and practical care. Whether in preaching, prayer, or pastoral conversations, church leaders are often on the frontlines of this sensitive issue.

Delegates will learn:

  • How to offer compassionate, biblically faithful care to those processing abortion.
  • How to create a culture in your church that is both open and safe for women and men to seek help.
  • Insights from experienced voices in the field who work with women and men who have journeyed through abortion.
  • How to address abortion publicly in a way that honours both truth and grace.

Expect real stories, theological grounding, and practical tools to help your church respond with love, not silence.

This is an event organised by Open, an initiative of CARE. For more information please visit weareopen.org.uk or care.org.uk

Who is this event for?

This session is ideal for anyone involved in pastoral ministry - church leaders, pastoral team members, small group leaders, chaplains, and those offering prayer or other support.

How will this session equip me to support someone who is processing abortion?

This training will help you respond with grace, wisdom, and confidence when someone opens up about abortion. You’ll gain language, theology, and tools that enable you to walk alongside individuals and families with compassion and hope.

What will I gain from attending?

You’ll leave equipped to offer sensitive and biblically grounded care, with language and approaches that communicate God’s compassion and forgiveness. You’ll also receive signposting resources and ideas to help your church create a culture of truth, grace and safety.

Is this event suitable for men as well as women?

Absolutely. Abortion impacts both men and women, and it’s vital that everyone in church leadership is equipped to respond with understanding and care.

Who is hosting the session?

This event is organised by Open, an initiative of CARE, which exists to help the Church respond with compassion, grace, and truth to those impacted by abortion. You can find out more about Open and CARE by using the links below. https://www.openministries.org... https://care.org.uk/

Will the session be recorded, and what are the expectations for participants on Zoom?

To protect privacy and encourage open conversation, the session will not be recorded. We want to ensure a safe and confidential space for all participants. We encourage you to keep your camera on to help create a more engaging and connected experience for everyone.

"Really appreciated the love but truth tone, bible-based equipping and approach of the training. Rebecca & Leonie, you are clearly both brilliantly equipped and positioned for such a time as this for this hugely needed ministry." - Attendee
