The Telegraph reported on polling data from ComRes, which CARE commissioned that shows 58 per cent of people support an increase in the Marriage Tax Allowance.
Fiona Bruce, MP for Congleton:
“It is particularly concerning that at present more marriage tax relief is afforded couples in their 80s and 90s, whose children will have left home long ago, than on all other marriages including those caring for young children. Whilst we should of course care for our elderly, we should give a significant married tax break to young families who also need our help.”
This data puts pressure on Chancellor Philip Hammond to make the marriage tax allowance more generous.

CARE will be launching a report in parliament this week - 18th January. The report will look how families are taxed and what the government can do for 'Just About Managing Families' without increasing the deficit.
