50 days to stop radical abortion laws being imposed on NI

7 August 2019

After Westminster voted to change the existing, life-affirming law on abortion in Northern Ireland, the only way of preventing the change is if the Assembly is restored. But the clock is ticking and there are only 50 days left before the 21 October deadline.

CARE NI is aware of several events taking place this week and we wanted to flag them up. The more people who can attend the better. We will endeavour to keep this page updated as we find out more.

September 2: St Annes Prayer Event - For the Soul of the Nation

For those of you who pray, there is a prayer event taking place on September 2 at St Anne's Cathedral, Belfast at 8.00pm. This has been endorsed by a host of different groups and Christians from any denominational background are most welcome to attend. You can find details of the event here.

September 6: voiceless protest at Stormont

The NI Voiceless Protest is being held on September 6 at 7.00pm at the Northern Ireland Assembly. If you are on Twitter or Facebook you can find the campaign at @NIvoiceless. We are hoping for thousands to attend. This has the potential to be a big moment. For more information, do check out the Facebook event here.

Sign up to Engage NI

If you live in Northern Ireland and would like to receive regular updates from our team there, why not sign up to our Engage NI email? At the crucial time, it has never been more important to stay informed. Simply click on this link, fill in your details and choose Engage NI under email preferences.

Contact your MLAs, MP and party leaders

If you haven't already done so, why not join the thousands of people who have contacted their MLAs, MP and party leaders to urge them to get the Assembly back up and running? Simply click here and it will only take a few seconds.

Contact the papers

Another excellent way to keep up the pressure is by writing into the editors of the three main papers in Northern Ireland. You can find contact details here and some suggested points you might want to make here.

In any pregnancy, both the woman and preborn baby have inherent value and dignity, by virtue of being made in the image of God. CARE is passionately pro-woman and pro-life.
