France votes for abortion on demand
AbortionMembers of the National Assembly of France voted for a number of radical amendments allowing abortion for mum’s suffering ‘psycho-social distress’.
In effect, this will allow for abortion for any reason.
The Assembly also voted for state-funded artificial procreation for lesbian couples, genetically modified embryos and chimeras (animal/human hybrids).
Assembly members took part in late night votes on revising the country’s bioethics law.
Tugdual Derville, speaking for the pro-life association “Alliance Vita,” commented on Twitter:
Around 220,000 legal abortions happen every year in France.
The revised bioethics law will be returned to the Senate for its second reading and a modified law would then be voted on by a joint committee of the two houses.
If a consensus cannot be reached, the National Assembly’s decision will be final.
